While the original Dynasty Warriors series could be considered the hardcore series, this particular version is fantastic if you like action games, sometimes some battles are about 15 minute sessions that are filler with non-stop action, objectives, allies and sudden enemies and bosses that all play with a fantastic soundtrack that keeps your heart bumping from excitement, something I didn't feel for a long time in some games. The formula is fantastic, and totally recommended if you are a fan of any of those series. There is a reason why there are versions for Fire Emblem, Dragon Quest, One Piece, Gundam, Berserk, and just recently Persona 5. Is a huge franchise I had no idea about and this skinned Nintendo version brought many fans from unexpected places. I started to research Dynasty Warriors games and I can say now that I see the appeal. Is like if it was a good combination of God of War, Devil May Cry, Monster Hunter, Ninja Gaiden, all in one which I'm sure was the aim. When I started losing I realized it was not just a button masher as I thought it would be, but it has a degree of technique that's very well crafted. I was in shock, and continued for hours which turned into days, and very often the game would bring me a huge smile because of the many details the game offers either by a battle animation, a remix of a song, a weapon, a combo, a character, a scenario, you name it. The first 10 minutes the game was running, I was entirely surprised, filled with energy, action, good music, nice graphics, good settings.

But first, I consider myself a Zelda fan that have played all games but 2 (Oracle of Seasons and the original), so I pretty much know what's going on, having the Encyclopedias and such. Surely it can't be a bad sign if that's the case, so happened to grab it and try give a try.

I just picked this game up a few weeks ago because I saw the price going up, which caught my attention. Surely I've heard about the Dynasty Warriors franchise and I'm ashamed to say I considered them some mindless button masher games that required no skill, and maybe that's why I didn't try this game when it first came out, and never bothered to research on what the 3DS version (Legends) was about.
